Is there any reason why I can't fit a built IN oven into a built UNDER unit?

Hi, I am changing my kitchen layout and doing away with the tall built in oven housing.

I wondered what the problem would be if I wanted to install the existing oven into a base unit? I will have enough height to do this, but am unsure if it is safe to do so.

cooker will be right to the floor, it can be done though with a bit of frame work

Kitchen fitter for 12 years and have done this on 3 different jobs, it looks fine a free sanding washing machince goes all way to the floor, I see from your question you have already measured and it will fit, just make sure you have enough room to open the bottom door

You can put anything anywhere when refitting a kitchen, I fitted kitchens professionally for years and, as long as you can safely bring power or gas in and, where appropriate, waste out, and circulating air, you can do as you like.

Having said that, you wouldn't want to place the oven between the fridge and the freezer because they would both be knocking their pipes out just trying to work normally. If possible, place a 300mm. high unit below the oven housing, that will mean that the hottest part of the oven will have two open sides and can dump the heat into the air - and you will have somewhere accessible to store pots used in the oven. Putting the oven too low means unnecessary bending to check the food, to put food in and to remove cooked food. My knees sound like two bowls of rice krispies when I come down the stairs in the morning. Good luck.

standard height UNDER a worktop in uk is 870 mm, standard height of a built in double oven is 900mm,work it out for yourself.However you can get a built under double oven which has a standard height of 720 mm, this will work perfectly.
