  1. It will go bad by the time it gets there, your son will eat Roquefort instead of Cheddar and he will get a food poisoning.

  2. Yes there is.

    A good one actually.

Food items are not allowed to be shipped with traditional means of transportation (such as the post office).

If you still insist though, try to see if a courier company will do it (such as DHL, FedEx, TNT etc..)

PS. I can understand your son's desire to taste some good ole cheddar but... he might want to temporarily satisfy his hunger with some graviera, kefalograviera or kefalotyri cheese (tell him to taste the Dodoni brand :-) )

  3. 1. It will smell and be off when it gets there.

    2. Its illegal

  4. Some countries have import laws. You can't just bring any old cheese or meat into the UK.

Have a look at the Greek Embassy website or ring them.

  5. Especially at this time of year when in Greece it's still quite hot, the cheese would not last the journey and will arrive all sweaty and horrible.

If you go to visit him, it would probably last the journey if you wrap it up well, or use a cool bag.  It IS permitted to transport dairy products within the EU as long as it is for own consumption (i.e. sensible quantities).

Otherwise you could try and find somewhere that stocks it in Greece so he can go there and buy it. Most big tourist areas have ex-pat stores, and in the big cities, the larger supermarkets probably sell cheddar.
