Is there any reason why the Engage SuperLeague is played in the Spring and Summer?

comparing to the Guiness Premiership which is played throughout the Autumn and Winter

is there any reason for this?

  1. I think it was nothing more than making it more enjoyable to watch. I remember freezing in the stands at Wilderspool where as now we can have a few beers in the sun before going the HJ stadium to watch Warrington.

    Also it doesn't conflict with football and union so again attracting more fans.


  2. To try and bring in more fans, make it more family friendly by playing it when it is warmer. Families are more likely to come it also looks better on TV, a game played in a wet pitch black night in December, or a summers evening in July? Sky also wanted it put in the summer so they could fill the summer schedule as the they already had football in the winter, and the only other major summer sport they had was cricket.
