Is there any reason why you wouldn't ovulate...other than already being pregnant?

I am positive I calculated my ovulation day and the day I should have started my period correctly because I have been a pretty regular cycle for years. I am four days late for my period, but I have a negative HPT. Could there be any other reason why I didn't ovulate and don't a period?

  1. Getting married could have pushed back your ovulation. Stress won't delay your period but it can delay your ovulation. People assume that stress is the main factor but stress is always perceived as negative. Since you just got married the excitement from the wedding or if you traveled for your honeymoon... all of that could have delayed ovulation which in turn delays menstruation. Stress isn't the only factor and contrary to popular belief it won't delay your period. After you've ovulated (if in fact you did ovulate) the only thing that can delay your period is pregnancy. You should try reading Taking Charge of your Fertility by Toni Weschler. It's extremely informative.

    Good luck.

  2. if you have regular periods, i'd test again in a few days if still negative, call your doctor for a blood test! good luck! in the meantime you can ask doctors online for free, try fertilityties.com

    good luck!!

  3. I dont ovulate on my own or get a period because i have poly cystic ovarian syndrome.  but if this is your first time having this issue i would count that out.  if this happens often to you then have your doctor test you.  also,  some HPT are not as sensitive and you could be pregnant and just not have a high level of hormones yet.   wait a few days and test again, if still negative and no period call your doctor.  you could just be stressed?  have you had any major events or stresses lately? just a thought. good luck

  4. i would say no egg but you would still have  a period unless you hit menopause
