  1. Gargling the salt water will help, but I find that the best thing can be found in your local health food store.  They should have some type of throat spray with Propolis and Echinacea.  Extremely effective, but do not use if you are allergic to bees.  Great if used at the first sign of a cold or allergies as well.

  2. These have helped my family, so I offer the following suggestions to you...

    1.  Rub Sandalwood oil, neat to the neck area.

    2.  Make a licorice decoction by boiling about 1/2 teaspoon of powdered root per cup of water. Gargle it, or take a whole day to drink a cup or two, sipping a little at at time.  **CAUTION:  Stop using licorice if you experience weakness, headaches, or swelling.  If you have high blood pressure or heart disease, use only deglycerized licorice.

    3.  Steep 1 teaspoon of Horehound leaves and flowers in 1 cup water, and sip up to three cups a day.  You can also find Horehound lozenges wherever cold and flu remedies are sold.

    4.  Boil about 1 teaspoon dried Marsh Mallow root (available from health food stores and suppliers) in 1 cup of water, and drink, or sip, up to three cups a day.

    5. You can use 1 or 2 teaspoons of dried Mullein leaves, roots, and flowers, per cup of water.  Flavor it with some honey, lemon, or licorice.  **CAUTION:  Mullein seeds are poisonous.

    6.  Make a decoction by simmering 2 teaspoons of the powdered Slippery Elm bark in 1 cup of water for about 15 minutes. Sip a bit at at time, taking up to three cups a day.

  3. i used to suffer from sore throats all the time for no apparent reason. i started taking echinacea to help with my immune system and it stopped the sore throat.

you should only take it for a week or two then stop. i take it during the winter season because i get a lot of colds but otherwise just take it when you're ill.

  4. Garlic honey! Fill a clean jar with unpeeled cloves of garlic. Fill the jar with pure honey. After 24 hours remove the garlic cloves. The garlic honey will keep for up to 10 years. Dose is a spoonful whenever you need it.

Another remedy that works in our house is ginger root infusion. Take a fresh ginger root and cut a piece about the size of your thumb into small pieces. Put in a teapot or jar and fill with boiling water and leave overnight. Take four cups of this a day the following day - add some honey if you like. Should only take a day or two to sort you out.

    Be well.

    Cheers

    Lyn

  5. There are several cures that will help to decrease the soreness so that you can swallow comfortably again.  One is make yourself a cup of tea and add three teaspoonsful of Apple Cider Vinegar.  After about three swallows you will be amazed at how much better your throat will feel.

  6. You will have to trust me on this but I swear to you that it works for me.

Dissolve two level teaspoons of table salt into warm ( not boiling!) water - stir well when full dissolved you need to gargle with it a few times - tastes awful so don't swallow but after a few minutes your throat will be ok - repeat as needed.

  7. Try:

    1. Warm honey with lots of lemon. Heat 2 spoons of honey + 1 squeezed lemon in the microwave. Drink it. It's yummy and fights bacteria + a warm liquid is soothing.

    2. Propolis: it is a natural antibacterial from bees.  It protects from getting sore throat (for example I take it when I fly, as the air on the plane is full of bacteria) and it cures me when I get sick!

    3. If you also have some cough, try thyme tea.

    Get well soon!

  8. Other than a lozenge, I find warm saki (Japanese rice wine) is great for a soar throat. Other than that, try regular warm water and a tylenol.

Also, a humidifier or damp towels are good. Humid air helps a lot, dry air hurts.

  9. Following are some remedies:

      Hooney(it is antibacterial)

      Grape Vine(it is antibacterial)

      Antibotics(it is medicine)

And if none of them works relase your anger by  shouting loud or hitting a pillow. That'll worl like a miracle cure

  10. When I have sore throat, I eat Strepsils once a day I choose sugarfree because it is effective.

    Additional:

Sore throat is when you are exposed to aircondition and stress.

  11. Whenever I have a sore throat, I drink a lot of tea.  Don't have a cup and then hope that it goes away, but always keep a fresh cup next to you as you read or watch television.  On top of tea - and this goes along with singing for performances - eat/drink honey by itself.  It relaxes your throat and gently coats it... not to mention, it tastes delicious.  The honey should also help reduce coughing as long as you don't accidentally gag, which helps the healing process.
