  1. Yes it works. For more scientific approach check @ http://hypnosis-knowthyself.blogspot.com...

  2. First what do you mean by "works"?  Works for what?

Also, try and find a definition of hypnosis...this may be harder than you think, as there is no real consensus.  There is very little good evidence that hypnosis does much of anything.

Read the link to skepdic.com provided in another answer.

Hypnotism is really nothing more than a form of concentration or deep relaxation.  It has been described by many practitioners as a tacit agreement between two people to role play.  There is no such thing as a "hypnotic trance/state"  The brain waves of people undergoing hypnosis do not alter in any way at all.  People are fully aware and concious during hypnosis, post hypnotic suggestions (staple of sitcoms for years) don't work at all.

It certainly may be a way to activate the placebo mechanism in some people.

  3. It works as a relaxing and pain relief mechanism ... but it does not work in all people and it doesn't work all the time in any one person.

I knew obstetricians who used hypnosis heavily in labor ... but they also had no problems using chemical pain relievers.

  4. I don't know but I do know it works, provided u have a good reliable practitioner

  5. skepticism is always a good thing. so far as hypnosis goes you can read a skeptical article on the subject in the link on my source:
