  1. There are at least 13 shipbuilding companies that I am aware of.  Most are in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Quebec and British Columbia.


  2. Historical or modern ones?

    I don't know too much about now, but in the past, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia had a large shipbuilding industry going, since there is so much wood here.

    In the 1700's, we built ships for Napoleon's fleet (and other fleets I'm sure, but I'm not that versed in history).

    The Bluenose (famous ship shown on the Canadian 10 cent coin) was built in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia.

    As for modern ship building industries, I'm sure a quick internet search will give you some results... I did one just now and there seems to be some shipbuilding going on in British Columbia...
