Is there any significant difference between "staples" and "office depot" stores?

Just curious...i'm looking to get a gift card for a high school grad thats going away to college and I wasn't sure if one store was better than the other. Thanks!

not that I have noticed, I go to both depending on who has the best sale and which one I am driving by.

there really isnt a difference between the two places because they both have supplies that you would need the only difference is that one might be bigger or have a few things more than the other but not really

They are essentially the same store specializing in office supplies & equipment. I prefer Staples because there are more in my area than Office Depot.
