  1. Look up stirling engines.

  2. Yes there is, its called a GeoExchange system. See http://www.discoverperfectenergy.com/DPE... for all the information on it.

  3. Desiccant-Evaporative cooling and refrigeration is the "lowest hanging fruit" because 20 to 50% of our energy-consumption in summer months is used to power conventional air-conditioning and refrigeration systems.

    [search Desiccant Solar Cooling]

BUT>>>>> GET THIS!!!!   -- -- HEAT MAKES COLD!

The earliest refrigeration systems used ammonia and heat to make HUGE blocks of ice which were delivered to homes and businesses (the original 'ice-box' [pre-fridge] was really much like modern "Igloo" coolers... just a big insulated box with an ice-compartment above.

We need air-conditioning because? Because it's HOT!!!!

So, use "evacuated glass tube" concentrated solar collectors to achieve 400 to 500 degrees F (relatively easily - & much higher temps are possible, of course).

Ammonia is also a good "working fluid" for a "steam" (type) engine (external combustion) AND, since 'COLD' is a natural process output, much lower temperature engines can be designed to run on that solar heat because the 'process-cold' can cool down the exhaust side of a well-designed heat engine.

    Hope that helps...
