Keith Miller- Was a pilot in the RAAF and served in WWII flying a Mosquito fighter/bomber, but his military career was far from his decorated cricket career going AWOL and being charged with insurbordanation. A Famous one liner on crashing a plane while in service by Keith to his crew was "well gentlemen, that was almost stumps!"

    Doug Walters was also drafted but didnt see action.

    He is a member of Srilakan army cricket team.Before join with that he played to MORATU VIDYALAYA.

  6. Right now, there are no real wars. If any only internal rifts. Mendis is the only cricketer at present who has to do anything with active participation in military activities.

    But that was not the case during the world wars.

    (Captain) Hedley Verity, (Sgt-Major) Frank Smailes, (Capt.) Herbert Sutcliffe, (Sgt) Maurice Leyland, (Sgt. Instructor) Len Hutton, Denis Compton, Fred Price, Leslie Compton etc. have taken part in WW2.
