Is there any sort of transportation assistance in Missouri for people that have lost their drivers license?

My brother in law is in a tough situation. Several years ago, his drivers license was suspended because of too many DUI's. He's since cleaned up his act, and is set to get his license back in a few months, but, in the meantime, my sister left him and left their two small boys with him.

My brother-in-law has always relied on my sister for transportation and, now that she's gone, he has a serious problem. Were there an emergency with the kids, he has no vehicle to get them help. He has no way to get the kids to a babysitter, and no way to get to work. He'll lose his job-- and, eventually, his house-- if he can't get back and forth to work. Not to mention trying to get to the store to buy groceries!

They live out in the country, so public transportation isn't an option for him.

Does anyone know of any public assistance programs or resources that he could check into for help? He lives in a small town called Granby, Missouri...

  1. He better make up with the old lady or he's SOL.

  2. There are avenues of escape for your brother in law. He could shoot and eat the kids (goats). Does your brother in law have any children?

There are many people in Missouri that have families and no automobiles. Nothing new there. Do what they do.

They have gardens. They have employment.  They hire people to drive them to work. They hitchhike. Some have horses. Some have bicycles.  Some have horse and buggy.  Where there is a will, there is a way.

Being without an automobile is not the end of the world. For emegencies, I am sure he has a telephone. Does he not have close neighbors he can call in case of emergencies? Is he too proud to ask others for help when he needs it? That does seem to be a problem in America. Don't let your liberty be your stumbling block.
