Is there any special way to pour cement over a pipe?

We had a leak in our drain pipe, under our cement basement. The plumber tore out the concrete and replaced the pipe. I would like to pour the concrete back over the pipe myself--is there anything special I need to consider?

  1. just cover the pipe with dirt about 2 inches if that leaves u enough concrete thickness, a min of 3 inches......if not then cover the pipe with black roof felt.......

    lic. gen. contractor

  2. yeah, for one don't pore the cement literally on the pipe or else if it breaks again it's going to cost way to much time, money, and fustration. try to put something to surround the pipe so it won't be a headache the next time it breaks, and if you do it will just be easier to fix, maybe some type of cardboard tubing, sorry no exact name. hope i helped.
