  1. well no we don't have states in the UK. I'm not sure if you mean counties. The USA is divided into states we have counties, such as Yorkshire, Cheshire, Hampshire, Lancashire etc.

  2. Britain is in a h**l of a state

  3. Britain (or more correctly Great Britain) is actually three countries, England, Wales and Scotland. Together with Northern Ireland, it makes the United Kingdom (of Great Britain and Northern Ireland), sometimes just called the UK.

England is the home of the UK parliament, but each of the countries has a devolved administration with a limited number of powers, for example education and health policy  are devloved, but defence and constitutional affairs policy remain a UK responsibility.

In addition, within each country there are at least one level of local government, either county councils, district councils or metropolitan authorities. These are usually responsible for delivery (or monitoring the delivery) of services.

Because you ask about "states" then the answer is none, but if the question was "How many countries make up Great Britain", the answer is three.
