  1. Try some peppermint oil pills.  I get mine from www.helpforibs.com because I have ibs, but I believe they can help acid reflux as well.  Or you could try the peppermint altoids.

  2. My grandmother swore by pickle juice....just take a little drink and heartburn will go away.

Give your OB or pharmacist a call to OK it, but I was allowed to take Prilosec OTC when I was pregnant.

  3. You can take Zantac 75. But only once a day.  I took that and ate Tums like popcorn. It helped.  And drinking milk would sometimes calm it a bit.

  4. i drink a glass of milk and that really helps also i looked up Zantac 75 which the generic name for it is Ranitidine and it says that it does no harm to the fetus so i think im gonna start taking that also because i am really sick of rolaids and tums.

  5. Heartburn is common during pregnancy because of hormones that slow digestion so your body will absorb more nutrients to support your needs and the growth of your baby. Using too many antacids can interfere with your digestion. A safe alternative is Papaya Enzymes. They come in chewable tablets made with 100% natural ingredients. It can also help to not drink fluids one-half hour before or after meals, and avoid eating too spicy or fatty foods.

  6. oh dear you poor thing, i had terrible heart burn with my second pregnancy. my midwife gave me 'mylanta' which did the trick for me.

i really feel for you! good luck, i hope you find something that helps

  7. I would talk to a pharmacist or your doctor if you are seeing him/her soon.

Products like Mylanta contain aluminium, which some people prefer to avoid.

  8. My OBGYN said not to take tums or rolaids because they don't help as they are chalky and powder, he recommends Maalox liquid instead.

  9. ask your dr if you can take over the counter heartburn meds. Tums doesnt work for me either, drinking a glass of whole milk seems to help me.

  10. Gaviscon (sp?) works SO much better! Also here in Canada they have an OTC drug called Ranitidine. It used to be perscription and they just recently made it OTC.
