I worry that it could crash or corrupt and if its my only card..

well you get the picture ( no pun) I use a 4 and lots of 2s but would love to buy an 8 and never change cards esp when im traveling for a month. Is my concerns justified?

  1. I think it depends on your shooting style, but no I wouldn't buy an 8Gb card and put every shot from a holiday on it. That's a little risky. I carry two 4Gb cards all the time as well as an HD80 Hyperdrive. This is a small back up device with a laptop 100GB hard drive in it for backing up memory cards. It's small enough to fit in my camera bag and runs on 4 AA's. I know you can fit a lot of cards in your bag in the space taken up by this unit, but I find this method great...Especially if I'm going to an airshow or something where I'm going to shoot over 1000 RAW images in a day...

  2. I would keep using the different cards. I take enough 1+ gb cards so I don't have to use any card for more than 2 days. If a card "crashes" you only risk losing those pics. Memory cards don't take up much room in your luggage.
