Hi Gopi,

Due to BG conversion, all the trains from Chennai Egmore / Thambaram to Chidambaram are stopped one year back.

Now the only source is buses. But you can get lot of Govt buses as well as omni buses from Koyambedu.

For Omni buses you can get buses from Egmore also.

From Koyembedu (CMBT) you can get all kind of Govt Buses (ordinary, semi delux, delux and ultra delux).

From Koyembedu OMNI bus terminus, you can get omni buses, Rathimeena, Universel, Happy, Yasmin and so many buses to passing through Chidambaram.

From CMBT, the frequency of straight bus to Chidambaram is very less, probabily once in 1 hour only. But there are lot of buses to Cuddalore and Puducherry. From there you can get bus to Chidambaram. Also you can have lot buses from Chennai to Mayiladuthurai and Velankanni which all are the buses passing through Chidambaram. The bus frequency is once in 15-30 minutes.
