I'm sure it's possible... there are many kinds of diseases out there that we don't know about yet.... and who knows what kind of things they can do...

Maybe.  But do you remember the last couple of "outbreaks."

Things like SARS, which sickened many but only killed 13 people.  Or West Nile Virus, who sickened nine whole people and only killed one (who happened to be over 70 years old).

These outbreaks are never as bad as people believe they'll be.
