  1. All new passports have a microchip.


  2. My son got a new passport last year. It has a chip on the back of the page which has his picture and details. As far as I am aware, all new passports will carry a chip.

  3. All the new UK passports have the microchip on the back of the photopage now. It's just the same details on the photo page. I know some countries are planning to set up checkpoints so you can check the microchip details just to ensure they're correct.

    I doubt they put in the address details. A lot of people tend to move houses a lot so it tends to make too many invalid over the 5 year mark.

  4. There are some UK citizens who have been electronically tagged, but they are suspected terrorists under confinement orders. The UK government does not secretly microchip anyone.
