Is there any value in old newspapers?

I have a few hundred(mostly Scottish) but some major events and some of newspapers that don't exist anymore

I think it depends on  the events listed in the papers and how old they are... remember if the papers were only lets say 20p they wouldnt be worth a great deal but they might be worth a few pounds......  

you could check ebay listings for old newspapers to see how much they go for..

none to speak of unless maybe there is not many left in the world and they have a major event reported in them

Definatley ones of major events from a long time ago must be.

but they'd have to get pretty old before they're worth anything i think.

I DONT KNOW IF THEY IS ANY MONETARY VALUE IN THEM BUT THEY CAN BE RECYCLED, USED FOR THE FIREPLACE, TO LINE THE BIRDS CAGE, CLEAN GLASS WINDOWS & PAPER MASHAY

hold on to them: there are many crazy people in the world who collect strange things (especially stuff that isn't being made anymore!). You can probably sell your newspapers on eBay.

they might be worth quite alot in the future so hang onto them!!!

yeah some places give a little then they recycle them... not much, but a few hundred papers should get you a new pair of shoes or a shiny new tricycle

My grandpa collected newspapers his entire life.. He kept saying that someday they will be worth something... We didn't throw them away cuz they have his notes on them.. So yeah.. To me they're of a great value..

Make sure you leave your mark on them... If they're not worth any money later on, your kids and grand kids will hold on to them =)

I am a student Journalist and I say hang on to these newspapers. The newspaper will be obsolete in about 20 years time with everything being available on-line. Technological advances mean that people will want more from news organisations than just a newspaper. Hang on to the editions you have because the longer you have them the more valuable they will indeed become.

great for burning... or hand them out to the homeless as makeshift blankets

They make great cardboard when recycled.

Please check with your local history collection or library. Sometimes these papers are missing in their collections.

You could always make paper bricks to burn in the fire!!
