They break a LOT, especially on my right hand because that's the hand I write with.

So, do you know any tricks I could use to make my nails stronger - diet, cosmetics or otherwise - it would be much appreciated!

  1. there are these clear nail polish that are specifically made to have stronger nails.oh n don't keep biting your nails n don't put too much polish on them all the time.Good Luck

  2. Drink lots of water!  And also a specific type of clear coat too.  it's clear but it's meant to make your nails stronger.  :-)

  3. To make your nails stronger you can buy one of those strengthening nail polishes ( clear works the best ). The nail polish acts like a strengthening shampoo because nails and hair are made out of the same thing ,keratin.

    good luck <3 Em

  4. First off, you should have lots of calcium in

your system. The calcium gives your nails

shape, color, and strength. Also the strength

of your hair and nails all depends on silica content.

Poor diet leads to vitamin deficiency, including a

lack of silica. Eating veggies and greens helps

alot. Also keep your protein in balance, this also

    helps to strengthen your nails.

Make sure to protect your nails. Wear gloves that

are cotton-lined when you're cleaning or using soap

    and water.

Moisturize your nails frequently. Nails need moisture just like your skin does. Rub lotion into your nails when moisturizing your hands. Be sure to apply a moisturizer each time you wash your hands.

Keep your nails short, square shaped and slightly rounded on top. Trim brittle nails after a bath or a 15-minute hand-soak in bath oil.

    After that apply some moisturizer.

Moisturize your nails and cuticles at bedtime and cover them with cotton gloves.

Apply a nail hardener, but avoid products containing toluene sulfonamide or formaldehyde. These chemicals can cause redness or irritate the skin.

Don't use nail polish remover more than twice a month. Instead, touch up the polish. When you do need a remover, avoid those that use acetone, which dries nails.

Repair splits or tears with nail glue or clear polish.

Sally Hansen's "Hard as Nails" polish line

    really helps too.

To apply nail polish, start off with a base coat.

This will help maintain your natural nail color, because

many polishes stain your nails. The Sally Hansen Diamond

Strength and Diamond Shine Base & Top coat works best

for people with your kind of nails. Use it as a base and top.

Apply the Sally Hansen Diamond Strength nail polish of

any color you'd like, then when it dries, apply the Strength

    and Shine base & top.

  6. My nails are really long and I put acrylic on them so now they almost never break.

  7. Keep your nails short, square shaped and slightly rounded on top. Trim brittle nails after a bath or a 15-minute hand-soak in bath oil. Then apply a moisturizer.

Moisturize your nails and cuticles at bedtime and cover them with cotton gloves.

Repair splits or tears with nail glue or clear polish.

    Eat lots of vitamins

soaking your nails in lemon juice keeps them healthy and looking nice but wont necessarily make them stronger

  8. You can always use polishes and clear coats, but I believe that the best way is nutrition. Here are the keys:

Drink lots of water, Biotin (a B complex vitamin found in most multi vitamins), gelatin (like in Jello) or you can buy a gelatin supplement. All are good for your nails and hair.
