Is there any way I can make-up for missing my Jury Duty date before they actually mail a letter saying I did?

This is the first summons I have gotten. I live at home with my mom and her bf and his kids and my brother. One night as I was heading out the door to go to night school, my mom casually mentioned I received a jury duty summons. By the time I came home, I had forgotten. She didn't tell me where she put it.This was late November. I found the letter in late January, and it said I was supposed to appear on Dec 9. I'm not trying to be in contempt of court. I want to contact the court and let them know before they contact me, at least that way I seem less guilty. I've already called the court twice but there are so many different directories and apparently, they close at 4:00p.m. and the phone clerks take a two hour lunch break from 12-2:00. I haven't been able to contact anyone to request Jury Duty. I know I can be fined and possibly jailed. I know what I did, and I want to make up for it before it's too late. Oh and now I can't even find the jury duty summons, I think somebody trashed it!

  1. Stop worrying, they're government employees I doubt if they will follow up they haven't yet

  2. Just call the Court House and explain your problem, they are Govt Employees they have heard it all. They will just reschedule you and you will be fine.
