  1. I don't know what you mean. I ride my MTB with no mods in a few inches of snow but when it gets heavy 5" or more it's really hard. They do make some gizmo that puts tracks (like a snowmobile)  on your rear end but they are expensive and probably don't work well. I can just imagine the energy it must take to turn tracks.

  2. Well both of the answers above are good. Studded tires help on hard pack and ice but don't do much in snow. When the snow gets deeper not much you can do. I just ride my MTB as is too. On lightly snow covered trails it's fine. On the street where 10" of snow is compacted by cars it just sucks, to hard to ride through all the car tracks etc. I saw those track things - it doesn't seem viable to me.

  3. most mtb go in snow  i have rode my wal mart mtb in like 1 foot of snow

  4. maybe put screws through the tire.

  5. Fatter tyres? You could try Schwalbe Fat Alberts. They'll fit on a standard rim. You can go bigger if your frame has plenty of clearance. Run them at low pressure and you're sweet.

  6. Switch the bike tires to skis
