Is there any way I get my white painted furniture to look like wood?

I have a bookcase which is made of wood but has been painted white. Is there any way I can get it to look like wood again?

I just did it! Go to your local Hard ware store and they will give you the best paint and toner for your specific kind of wood

You can use paint stripper to take off all the old paint. Then sand and re-finish the bookcase with stain, and your choice of sealant. Either an oil finish, clear lacquer, polyurethane, or varnish.

You can also use one of many faux wood techniques that will make a painted surface look like wood.
