I have a big screen, and the replacement lamp costs well over $200. Every website I go to...is there a way around that? Self repair? could I take it somewhere to be repaired?

  1. I've found the place in the link below has the best prices I've seen on projector set bulbs.

Buying the bulb and replacing it yourself IS technically self repair. There is no cheaper solution, the bulbs blow and you have to replace them the only cheaper solution is never turn your TV on and the bulb will never wear out but what fun is that right? ;)

  2. I agree with the other poster.   Bulb replacement is a normal activity for projection screen tv's (and replacement bulbs are expensive).  Buying and replacing it yourself is self repair (just like replacing the headlight bulb in your car is).  The unfortunate thing is that they didn't standarize on one bulb type.  This would have brought prices down.
