  1. yeah because you will most likely be useing a aftermarket amp for the stock speakers, witch mean they will cut some wire and void the warranty.

  2. tell then that you want woofer since that will void  your warranty  they need to install them for you

also go back to the dealer and tell them to put that in writing and sign for it

    also read this  about warranty

    Magnuson Moss Act

Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Improvement Act, a vehicle manufacturer may not make its vehicle warranty conditional on the use of any brand of security system unless the manufacturer provides the system free of charge or the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has specifically published that only the vehicle manufacturer’s product may be used. To challenge a false claim, ask the person to put it in writing, or request the vehicle manufacturer’s security system free of charge. If you are charged for the security system, or they refuse to give you a written statement, there may be a violation of Federal law.

This is the actual language of the act:

No warrantor of a consumer product may condition his written or implied warranty of such product on the consumer’s using, in connection with such product, any article or service (other than article or service provided without charge under the terms of the warranty) which is identified by brand, trade, or corporate name; except that the prohibition of this sub-section may be waived by the Commission if

the warrantor satisfies the Commission that the warranted product will function properly only if the article or service so identified is used in connection with the warranted product, and

the Commission finds that such a waiver is in the public interest.

The district courts of the United States shall have jurisdiction of any action brought by the Attorney General (in his capacity as such), or by the Commission by any of its attorneys designated by it for such purpose, to restrain (A) any warrantor from making a deceptive warranty with respect to a consumer product, or (B) any person from failing to comply with any requirement imposed on such person or pursuant to this chapter or from violating any prohibition contained in this chapter.

  3. Just install it in such a way that it doesn't alter the car.

For some cars this is tough, mainly when it comes to routing the power cables from the battery in the engine to the amp in the trunk.  Some cars have existing holes in the firewall and/or trunk that can be used, some require drilling.

The next area that causes trouble is if you decide to bolt the box into the trunk somehow.  If theft isn't a huge concern you might be able to just strap them in.

In other words, what they don't know won't hurt them ;-)

  4. That's crazy. Installing an aftermarket sound system shouldn't void the car's warranty! I'd call them back and ask them to specify exactly what it is about installing speakers in your car will void their warranty.

If a licensed and reputable shop does the work I can't see what the problem is.

  5. you spoke to a r****d, it will not void the warranty....if you do it right, or get it done right.  when i went to my dealership for work, they were looking for the key to my wheel lock for changing tires and they said "we thought it could be in the trunk, but we were NOT going to touch all that stereo equipment!"  they knew i had "modified" the audio system, but they didnt care.  also, there usually isnt a warranty concerning stock car speakers or sound system, but only if parts are damaged, i.e. stock radio, amp (if applicable), speakers, etc.  for example, if your radio blows through normal use, they will replace it under warranty.  but if you add a radio, speakers, subs, etc., you will be fine.  my advice is to speak to the actual service MANAGER at the dealership.  or, you could install aftermarket speakers behind the paneling (if thats how yours are now) and they wont even know they are aftermarket.  and if you are good enough, "hide" a 4-channel amp somewhere for the speakers.

    good luck

  6. What GMC doesn't know can't hurt them.

Anyone that adds anything aftermarket has gone through this same dilemna.  Typically, car audio is the least offensive of add-ons.  If you're at all concerned about having a warranty claim denied, just be sure that when your car audio install is done that it can be reversed to look like it was never there.

  7. No.  WOW, LISTEN TO THE PEOPLE AT CUSTOMER SERVICE.
