Is there any way i can find births/deaths marriages etc online for free?

Try http://www.familysearch.org.  I have found quite a bit of information completely free on here.  There are a lot of sites that advertise themselves as free but they are not,you either have to take out a subscription or buy credits.The best site if you are going to pay is, www.ancestry.co.uk.You would have to pay more to access other country information.

Some historical societies have free access to these records, MN does but what you see is limited. Name DOB mother's maiden name. When I first started searching for family information I googled and found some information and then finally joined ancestry to have easier access and then depending on state regulations it can still be limited.
