Is there any way i can receive financial aid if im not in contact with my parents...?

I recently moved out.. and my parents arent willing to help me out.. i tried filling out my fafsa.. but i need to have information about my family...

  2. I don't fill out my parent's section, never have. I haven't been a dependent for years. Talk to your financial aid advisor. If you claim yourself for tax purposes, then your parent's can't claim you as a tax write off and you will be an independed student/

There are a few reasons that are acceptable to not list your parents....but their unwillingness to fill out the FAFSA is not one of them.  Check with the Financial Aid Office at the school you are attending to see what their appeal process is to become an independent student.  Usually it requires documentation of abuse or abandonment.

    Otherwise, you need to list your parents information on the FAFSA.  You can tell them that listing their information does not obligate them to actually pay for your college education, but only makes you eligible to receive financial aid.
