I'd like to find out either the names of the investors or the name of the compant they formed when they invested in another company.

I'm not particularly keen on forking out cash which most of the public records departments want for you to search their records.

  1. You can get some company information for free from Hoovers.com.  A company owned by Dunn & Bradstreet that offers good company profiles on public and private companies for free, but there are some fees for more in-depth coverage.

  2. Unless you own 5% of a listed company, or are an officer or director, your position does not need to be disclosed publicly.

Dun and Bradstreet charges a huge fee for info, and it is credit and profile related.

If you are looking for historical records, you will prob end up paying for this.
