  1. yes. go to the pet store, buy dust bath dirt (special kind) put thin layer in shallow dish, place dish in cage. gerbils love to take dust baths, but since they are desert animals, they should never get wet.

  2. forget what every one said above me, gerbil are not hamster, but do clean themselves

DON'T use dust going in there lungs and good sand bath of Chinchilla SAND! put the sand into something and in the cage a go away for a few hour, the gerbil will role in the sand and clean themselves!

Also clean the cage before the sand bath!

O and gerbils can died from cold very easy don't use water!

  3. U don't need t because dwarf hamsters clean them like cats and that keeps them clean. I clean my hamster with a toothbrush though.

  4. ASOLUTLEY NOT!!!

gerbils hate getting wet worse than cats. I have 3 of my own If u put them in water their townails will rot they usally clean themselves (almost constantly) if they small bad change their cadge or put fresh smellinf bedding in their cadge. if u want to groom them u can use a small brush, mine enjoy it when i do that. whatever u do plz dont give them a bath!

  5. they only kind of bath they can have is a dust bath.  you can get a cheap dog bowl or something similar and some chinchilla sand.  throw about half a pouch into a bowl and they will roll around in it for a while.  that is one way they get themselves clean.  i wouldn't leave it in there more than fifteen minutes at a time.  they can make a mess out of it.

as far as a bath with water...no way.  that isn't safe for them.
