Question:

Is there any way to alter the base graphics on a snowboard?

I found a used board for my son, but it has red & black graphics of a little devil with pitchfork on the bottom.

I'm not too keen on references to the devil of any kind (I sorta consider it paying homage to satan... not a huge deal killer for the board buy, but if I could change the pitchfork to a torch it'd look like some sort of Olympic theme). If I could make it solid black it'd be good too.

  1. Not really. It's put on before the base surface.

Just wait until he starts putting pentagram stickers on the top though.

  2. Dear Dishonorable Homage,

Sadly enough...there is no way to change the base graphic on the snowboard. If you try it will damage the snowboard beyond repair and put you out of a board. The P-Tex repair is also not very good for the board to coat with since it will cause major friction and slow the board way down. Unfortunately it is a base layer that is unchangeable without destroying it. I would however suggest possibly taking the board to a shop that sells used boards and see if they would be willing to trade or buy the board from you if you bought it used, then you could get what you want and everyone is happy cause your son has a new shred stick :) I tell ya...snowboard manufacturers these days right? LOL, good luck in your quest to take the devil out of the board but dont try to forcefully remove him...it might be best to just replace the board itself :) That and it is a K2...there are lots of really good wholesome brands out there for a great price (i.e. Ride-my favorite brand, Rome, Burton...etc.) I am sure he will love whatever you give him, I know I would, you are a great dad to get him a board :) Good luck in your quest to keep the devil out of snowboarding, I know it sucks when you want a wholesome product for your son but they are definitely out there :)

  4. If you have the cash you could get someone at your local snow shop to take of the finish and you can tell him any altercations you need to make, and then he can put on a new finish

    Time consuming and exspensive
