Question:

Is there any way to break out of an endless pop-up loop in Mozilla Firefox?

I've encountered a number of websites that will generate an endless loop of pop-up windows (or in some cases, simply a LOT of pointless pop-ups); if you try to click "OK" or to close the pop-up window, another appears to take its place. I believe that these are called pop-up dialog boxes, but I'm not sure (source: http://talk.livedaily.com/archive/index.php/t-567795.html ).

I've tried pretty much everything to get around them, but short of completely restarting the internet browser (or holding down the enter/return key until the end of all the pop-ups), I've been unable to get around them. Is there any way to somehow stop the loop and block the pop-ups from appearing? I have pop-up and ad-blocking software, neither of which help in the situation I mentioned. I'd give you an example of what I'm talking about, but... I'm not allowed to do that, according to Yahoo answers guidelines.

I'm using Mozilla Firefox 3.0.1; any help would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. I do know to avoid clicking on suspicious links, but curiosity does sometimes overcome my more rational side. >.>

  1. have you tried the noscript addon for firefox though?

it disables javascript, flash, loads of other stuff:

    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox...

you can then allow sites you trust to run java and such (with 2 clicks) so that you're not getting popups or malware unless you sanction them - you'll find that the sites which actually *need* javascript enabled are actually very few.

  2. Hello Shiny Moogle, You can get rid of these pop-ups by using this spyware program, what you have is a form of spyware/malware and it will take a spyware program to get rid of it. (http://www.superantispyware.com)  So just click on the link to get started, install it in mozilla/foxfire. Thois is a very good spyware program and it will get rid of and continuelly protect the computer from (spyware, malware, adware (Pop-Ups) , trojan horse and some computer worms)   Now that you have the link, install it and run a scan right away ok, you will be happy that you did. good Luck . and it is Free.
