Japanese beetles are devouring all my plants! They got so bad I bought a trap, but that might have mane them worse by attracting more beetles.

  1. Malathion is the best. I am not sure you can buy it everywhere anymore.

  2. Most big box stores like Lowes or Home Depot sell various bug sprays, but next spring be sure to put down some grub killer on your lawn - that is where the beetles come from...they destroy your lawn first then they come after your vegetation.  Kill them when they are grubs and save your lawn and your trees...and other plants.

Don't use the liquid on the grubs get the granular stuff you spread with a lawn spreader..

  3. Study the habits of the beetles, where they are mating and what their eggs and nymphs look like.  Then take a shop vac and the corner nozzle attachment and suck the little buggers up.  Try sucking up the eggs as well.  Empty the cannister immediately, tie the contents up in a plastic bag and throw them away.  You may have to do this once a week for several weeks until they are eradicated.  Remove any damaged plant material to promote overall health.
