  1. yes i only use the flake food amd just crumble it a little in you8r hand before you put it in. i have done this every time and i have not lost one baby

  2. You could use regular fish food also just pour some of the fish food into a plastic bag and crush the flakes into smaller pieces. I have baby platies in my tank and I never use micro baby fish food. They grow fast also

  3. Baby mollies can eat bigger food than a lot of fish fry.  Offer lots of plant material, algea from a pond if you can, a thin slice of zucchini if you have nothing else.

  4. There is no need to buy that stuff. Just take your normal tropical flake food and crush it into tiny pieces. They will be able to eat this just fine.

  5. You can buy flake food and crush it so the baby's cane eat..they do not get as much protein tho.I recommend you to just feed them some micro worms 1 time every month,it will last for a long time and it is not to much money. There are a few shops where the baby food is cheap buy not all.You can easily, put some water in a little cup, then put a slightly boiled potato in the cup filled with water.Put the cup some where were there is allot of light and some heat. After about a week it will look very cloudy in the small cup(or jar)That is the food, put a tiny bit in for the baby's,it helps allot of baby fish get protein.(but not all baby molly's eat it)So feed them some of the cloudy food and some crushed flake food 2 times a day. Some fry might die(that is natural)if some baby's die don't be mad or scared it is natural.

  6. There are several things that you can feed livebearer fry that you probably have at home right now.  First is your regular fish food.  As mentioned, you can just crush that up into powder and then soak it in some tank water so the fry can manage it.  Make sure you get it crushed very fine though.  What I do is use a mortar and pestle, but before I had one I would crush it in a bowl with a rounded bottom and the back of a spoon, then push it through a piece of an old, clean pair of nylons.  Any pieces that fit through the nylons are small enough for fry.

Also, a great, protein-rich food for fry is the mashed yolk of an egg.  Just boil an egg, take a tiny piece of egg yolk, mash it up with the back of a spoon and mix it with a little bit of tank water.  Then drip the mixture into the tank for the fry.  Only feed a tiny amount of this at a time or it will cloud your water.  You can save the boiled egg yolk and feed this for up to a week.  (Or just eat the rest of the egg.)

You can also feed fry the inside of a steamed or boiled green pea.  Peel the pea or just squeeze it and mash the inside into mush and put it into the water.  Both adults and tiny fry enjoy this vegetable treat and it helps prevent constipation in fish.  One pea or 1/2 a pea will feed 2 dozen fish or 50 fry.

You can also feed fry regular baby food.  Pea, green bean or mixed vegetable are good choices.  One jar of human baby food is not all that expensive and will last a tank full of fish a long, long time!  The adults will eat it too.

  7. liquid food is a good choice.
