  1. get someone who is stronger/more conditioned than you and make them push you

you'd be surprised how hard you can go

  2. It is all about what drives you. Mental toughness is "Want To". That is it. Do you want to do it or not? If you do then you will mentally go the extra effort needed. If you do not want to then you won't.

There is nothing else. No one can teach you mental toughness as we all have it and it comes out when we want to. Someone can point out to you and let you know when they see your metal toughness come out, but that is about it.

So to answer your question, NO, there is no way to gain mental toughness. You just need to want something bad enough and it will show up. "WANT TO"!

So if you think you do not have it then you just don't want to.

  3. I just like to think it like this, maybe like a minute of pain but you get endless and such beneficial results.

  4. This may sound like comedy, but I'm dead serious.  Dilberately lay in bottom mount and let a few friends of yours crack you in the face with 4 oz. grappling gloves on nice and hard.  If you see blood don't trip out and if you need stitches afterwards then I'm a dirty b*stard for such advice.  The reason I say this is because "mental toughness" boils down to what you're willing to take and give in life.  Ever trade punches with your friends? If not, try it sometimes.  Ever work a job you really hated and stuck it out? If so, I'd say you're already fairly "mentally tough".  It can be practiced though, "mental toughness" that is.  If you ever lived in a big city merto area and got tired of being picked when you were a young kid and sat out to fight every one bigger than you on purpose then you know what I'm talking about.  "mental toughness" almost takes a willingness to throw all caution to the wind when it comes to things like personal saftey, as weird as that sounds.  Being thrown in jail unjustly, being forced to fight bullys when you're young, nasty divorces, hard labor jobs, high bills, unfair gas prices, etc. all lead to "mental toughness" in life, but as far as fighting and training goes you have to be willing to take a beating sometimes, not just metally, but physically as well, in both, killing your self with weights and getting your face pounded.  It's been the lumps, stitches, ice bags and band aids that have givien me focus in life, so it should work just as well for anyone else.  You just have to be able to not give a rat's a** about losing or something as insignificant as pain.  As a matter of fact "LOVE THE PAIN" because as a fighter pain is your buddy, your pal, your friend.  It should be no different while working out.

  5. Find some kind of motivation or driving thought/thing. When I workout I think of that person I'd love to clobber, or when my brother died, or my ex-girlfriend haha! Like the guy above said, be "put through h**l" then use the experience to drive yourself.

  6. When i am training hard i do it in rounds. So i picture myself fighting a UFC legion and fight him in my mind for a 5 min round. That way i feel like i am in my dream fight and want to win it. If you cant keep going thinking like that then there is no reason for you to fight. you need to want it that bad.

  7. The only way I know to gain mental toughness is to be put through h**l and make it out alright.

Spend less time with electronics, spend more time with books and a structured slightly punishing daily routine.

The less luxuries you have, the harder you will get.
