i heard that you can sand it down, but if you sand it do you have to re-prime the table...or do you just sand the spot and the burn is gone. im looking for an easy fix

  1. You can sand it down and get a Cover up marker (for the wood stain of your table) rather cheap and go over that area with the marker. They are for small touch ups you can find them any where walmart, target, lowes

  2. no kidding......crisco oil....cirar or cigarette ashes and a toothbrush.it will take the black out of the finish.but not the wood itself.good luck

  3. Is the table painted or stained?  Is it solid wood or veneer?  Let's address these one at a time.

Solid wood-stained:  You will need to sand deep enough to remove the char marks.  Then sand the rest of the top to remove finish, stain, and varnish.

Solid wood painted:  Apply wood filler to the burn, allow to dry, sand, prime, and paint.

If your top is veneer, the repair depends on how deep the burn is.  You are probably best off filling the hole, sanding, priming, and painting if you have burned through the veneer.

    Hope this helps.
