I just got a 2007 used car and the headlights seem a little dirty from the inside, is there any way to get them cleaned anywhere so they can get the shiny new car look or do I have to totally replace them? Is there any way to clean them inside out, take them somewhere and get it done professionally, how much does it cost?

  1. I work on cars all the time you're wasting your time. They are all sealed beams. If they are not sealed they should be replaced. Buy new ones. Valid question though.

  2. If they are sealed get new lights. If your looking at the kind that have a plastic housing and you want that cleaned there is a product available at most auto parts stores that you can buy, its a 2 part cleaner I guess its one abrasive type cleaner and 1 polisher type cleaner. I have used polishing compound and cleaned them before as well. If you don't want to do it yourself it would be cheaper to get new ones though. The amount of time it takes would cost if you took them to a polishers.

  3. More than likely its oxidation collected on the surface of the lens. It may look like its on the inside but its generally on the lens surface.

You can quickly and safely clean them yourself with an acrylic lens deoxidizer.

Best to deoxidize them first before buying new ones.

What ever you do do not use anything abrasive ( sandpaper, rubbing compound, polish) on the lens surface it will cause permanent damage to the UV layer.
