a few apartments are requiring that I make 4 times the rent when I thought the original rule was 45%

I make good money, but this is forcing me to live in areas I'm uncomfortable

  1. No, there is no way around the salary requirement. A co-signer will not even help in this situation.

  2. It’s advised that your housing expense be no more than 25-33% of your income.  This apartment is just going with the low end of that scale. A roommate would be a good solution or (even though you apparently don’t want to) to live somewhere else.

  3. maybe you should consider getting a roommate

  4. A co-signer will not help with income requirements, only bad credit rating.

You should get a better paying job if your standard of living can not be met at your income level.
