You mean get a place faster? They usually show preference to people who are homeless in a shelter or being evicted. You have to remember, though, some of these programs have lists that are YEARS long.

unless you qualify for priority status no.. priority: homeless, elderly, single female parent,  single disabled female, and a few more.  Most sect. 8 have a waiting list of at least 2-5 years if you are lucky.. In CA, it's 10-15 years. If you move into a homeless shelter, you get moved to the top of the list but it may still take 6-8 months then.. so just wait

No. Section 8 usually has a waiting list just to apply. Once you apply, there is another wait, which can be years.
