Is there any way to give my amazing teacher something back?

I have one teacher who is outstanding. She often stays after school with us, trying to help us meet our deadlines for Advanced Placement, until midnight or one. I would love to be able to have her win an award, does anyone have any ideas?

  1. WOW. Sounds like you have an incredible teacher who really takes an interest in her students. You could bring this to the attention of your local news outlets to create a news story on her. I've seen, on many of my local news stations, news stories that commend enthusiastic teachers and now created a monthly segment for them. You and your classmates might want to look into that.

  2. Wal-mart has given awards to amazing teachers like yours.  Keep your eyes peeled for contests like that.  A teacher in my building won an award from Wal-mart, and they had an all-school assembly and Wal-mart presented one of those giant checks for the school, and she got a smaller check or maybe gift certificate to spend on herself.  Telling the local news station is also a fantastic idea.  But, as others said, the most rewarding thing of all is the fact that you notice and appreciate all of the extra effort.  That's the fuel that'll keep her going.

  3. In my experience the best thing you can give to one of your teachers is a "thank you". Also, they love it when you stay in contact with them. If you're moving up a grade or going into college, get their email address and keep in touch. As far as awards go, ask some staff members in the school office if there's any awards or special honors given to teachers. If there isn't anything like that, get the kids in your class together and start one for her. Maybe like an achievement award or teacher of the year award given at the end of a school year.

  4. Literally, one of the most wonderful things that you can give a teacher is that recognition that you just have to us.  So much of what teachers do go unrecognized or without thanks, it's why it is a really hard career.  A card that thanks them is something I know I appreciate getting as a teacher.  As far as awards, you might try to bring it to the attention of the administration exactly how wonderful this teacher has been for you.  They might be the ones to get them nominated for a teacher of the year award, or something along those lines.  You can get in contact with your school district and ask about those things as well.  They love it when students go out of their way to recognize teachers.  It makes the district look good as a whole also.  I'm glad you've got a teacher like this!
