  1. Yes there is but that is illegal and you could end up in jail.

  2. i believe it is illegal to do that! however, go to a spy(surveillance) shop they usually do!

  3. yes you can, and NO it is NOT illegal!

You must be the responicble party to the phone line. You cannot place monitoring equipment on a line you do not own.

According to the Communications Act of 1934, you are not allowed to tell a third party the contents of the communications.

You say it is an office phone, the easiest way to monitor and record is with a device you can buy at Radio Shack. It allows the tape recorder to start or stop when the line is actuated (go off hook it starts, go on hook, it stops). You can place this ANYWHERE on the line you are to monitor, but I would install it in the telephone equipment room where all the lines and phone equipment is kept.

The disadvantage is that you can only record for the length of the tape. There is a work-around for this too, you can modify the tape recorder by changing the pulley on the tape drive motor, make it smaller, you slow the tape and get more time. The disadvantage is that to play the tape back, you need to use the same tape recorder.

  4. It is illegal to tap any phone without court approval. You must have a court order in order to do this, otherwise you WILL go to jail.
