Electoral role online is a start - if you google hard for      free electoral role   you can get SOME info for nothing.

If you visit the council you can view the FULL resgister of people in the area

You could also try BT.com on the offchance that the person is not ex-directory.

You could also try speaking to people that would have known him before - perhaps some stayed in contact?
