Question:

Is there any way to make dial-up faster?

I'm not a computer whiz. Dial up is only like 7 dollars a month for me thats why I have it. I use Mozilla- probably don't matter. Any advice is welcome.

  1. there are a number of dial up internet speed increase apps, but don't expect BB results though, you should already be getting 56k if not speak to your phone company to get the line gain increased


  2. If your dial-up ISP supports V.92 protocol, then get yourself a V.92 modem.  V.92 modems utilize newer compression algorithims that "effectively" increase the speed over V.90 modems.

    An added bonus of V.92 modems is that they support MOH - Modem On Hold and Caller-ID.  So, if a phone call comes in while your are surfing, MOH allows you to put your Internet connection on hold while answering an incoming phone call, and then resume the Internet connection after disconnecting the call.
