  1. Cake Mix Frosting

    | 5 min | 5 min prep | .

    SERVES 12

    Ingredients

    1-2 cup whipping cream

1 (18 ounce) package cake mix, any flavor (I prefer white)

    Directions

    1Use 1/2 the cake mix.

2Pour into bowl and with electric beater, mix until most lumps are gone.

    3Pour in whipping cream.

4Start with 1 cup, add more as needed.

5This can get very thick fast, so just add more whipping cream until you reach desired spreading consistency.

6This is wonderful on angel food cake.

7Just add sprinkles-- For a great variation-- use chocolate cake mix, mix as directed, stir in mini marshmallows, slivered almonds and chocolate chips for a rocky road frosting.

8better yet, rocky road"mousse" as my girls lovingly refer to it.

9They beg me to make this to eat out of the bowl

  2. buy some icing sugar! it is wat frosting is made best from

  3. Unless you want to go to the store to get some supplies, here are some possible subs for frosting:

    1.  Defrost frozen fruit and mix with honey or maple syrup.  Heat and spoon over cake.

    2.  Mix pancake syrup with a little cinnamon and bring to a boil.  If you have some cornstarch, add to thicken.  If you have maple flavoring, add some to increase richness, along with some butter.

    3.  Ice cream or CoolWhip

    4.  Melt butter in skillet and add brown sugar, chopped nuts and flaked coconut. Cook until golden brown and cool for 15 minutes.  Spoon over cake.

    5.  Drain canned fruit, reserving liquid.  Bring liquid to a boil and add some cornstarch.  Return fruit to sauce and spoon over cake.

  4. you have no sugar at all?  You can make a glaze out of honey, or powdered sugar, but a frosting....  none that I know of - at least not one that will compliment your cake.  You can use sugar substitute, but if you went to the trouble of making a cake with real butter and sugar, why spoil it with sugar substitute.

You can make a chocolate glaze - ganache - just heat up some cream (or milk), pour it over the chocolate, add a little butter and vanilla, and stir it together.  Then let it cool.  You can make it really thick - less cream, or thinner - more cream.

That's all I can think of.

    Good luck

  5. Sorry. No way to make frosting. But you could make glaze instead. Honey, syrup or anything sweet and syrupy can be melted down do make a glaze (add butter or something to thin it). You could also just add jam or stewed fruit. Or another alternative is sweetened whipped cream or spray can cream. That's all I think. Check in your recipe books for others.

  6. If you have chocolate chips & heavy cream, you can make a ganache.

    INGREDIENTS:

    9 ounces bittersweet chocolate,

chopped ( I use semi sweet chocolate chips)

    1 cup heavy cream

    DIRECTIONS:

    1. Place the chocolate into a medium bowl. Heat the cream in a small sauce pan over medium heat. Bring just to a boil, watching very carefully because if it boils for a few seconds, it will boil out of the pot. When the cream has come to a boil, pour over the chopped chocolate, and whisk until smooth.

    2. Allow the ganache to cool slightly before pouring over a cake. Start at the center of the cake and work outward. For a fluffy frosting or chocolate filling, allow it to cool until thick, then whip with a whisk until light and fluffy.

  7. SUGAR FREE POWDERED SUGAR REPLACEMENT

    1 cup nonfat dry milk

    1 cup cornstarch

2/3 cup sugar replacement (Sugar Twin is the recommended product)

Combine all the ingredients in a food processor or blender and whip until blended and powdered.

    SUGAR FREE CHOCOLATE ICING

add 1 package of Jell-O sugar free instant chocolate pudding to sugar free powdered sugar. You might want to add the pudding powder in small amounts until you get the flavor and consistency that you are

looking for, you can always add, but you can't take away.

    SUGAR FREE CHOCOLATE ICING

    1 envelope Dream whip

    1/2 teaspoon vanilla

    1/2 cup milk

1 box sugar free chocolate pudding

Blend together milk, vanilla, and dream whip. Beat until stiff. Add pudding mix and continue to beat until light and fluffy. Add milk as needed until desired consistency is reached

  8. You can make frosting without sugar or sugar substitute.

But you can top the cake with berries or ice cream, or even pie filling is great on top of the cake.

You can make a frosting like topping out of whipped topping (cool whip) and pudding..

    Enjoy
