Question:

Is there any way to make my cats breath smell better?

I have a little kitty who is about 1 year old. He has horrible breath but he was just checked over by the vet and has no infections. I've heard about pet breath mints but I'm not sure they would work. Has anyone used them successfully and if so where can I find them?

  1. Did your vet check your kitty's teeth?  The most common cause of kitty bad breath is periodontal disease.  This can be cleared up by having the vet do a dental cleaning.  If not treated, periodontal disease leads to abscesses and tooth loss. (I have two cats with no teeth now)

Otherwise, there are toothbrushes and toothpaste for cats, as well as treats that can help with breath.  Could it be the food you are feeding him?  Tuna breath can really knock your socks off.

  2. use fresh parsley.  Yes, truely.  Cut it up in tiny bits, and add it to your wet food or even in the dry.  I sneak it into their catnip that they get every morning.  My tuna-breathed buddies now have fresh breath.  Grow your own to make sure it's organic for even better health.

  3. Oh my gosh!  Lol, this is the exact same situation with my little 3 month old kitty!

She has horrible breath too!  LOL, maybe they're brother and sister...jks :)

You can get them special things...I think they're called Greenies or something that can help it.  You can them from the pet store, they also act as a treat.

  4. Vets or even PetCo have treats that they could probably gnaw on, chew, or eat. Breath should improve after. PetCo has a whole aisle of them.

  5. Hahah yes, I can't remember the name to these cat treats but they make the breath smell better and whiten teeth. Look at your nearby pet stores and you can find stuff like that surely there.
