My computer crapped itself this morn and I have purchased a new one but it contains nearly a hunderd bookmarks for research articles that I need to save for several assignments. After I shut down the old computer it seems I will be unlikely to turn it on again. Any help? Thanks.

  1. I Believe not, But maybe you can copy paste and send it to the other computer.

  2. Before you shut down your old PC copy and back up all of your files to a external hard drive, flash drive, or disk. A way to backup your files depending on the OS ( operating system). On XP operating system: go to start -> My Computer -> click on your hard drive ( C: ) - > click on the folder named: Documents and Settings folder -> find and click on the folder that has your username -> find the folder/ file named favorites and right- click -> go to copy then after that, then go to you external drive like a flash drive or a disk and right click go to paste.

If you are using a flash drive I would recommend larger then 2gb of free space because it could give you some room to save other documents and files.

  3. Yes, you can save your bookmarks or Internet Explorer Favorites.  If using Internet Explorer go to File, Import and Export.  Pick next, then select Export Favorites.  Select Favorites to get all of your bookmarks, then pick Next.  It will ask where you want to save the file.  I would put it on a USB flash drive.  Name the file bookmark.htm and pick Next.  Your favorites will exported to the file.  On your new computer open Internet Explorer, go to File, Import and Export, and select Import Favorites.  When it asks for the file, the navigate to the USB flash drive where you saved to bookmark.htm file and select it.  You should now have your Internet Explorer Favorites on the new computer.

  4. Well how hard would it be to just add the bookmarks the normal way again?

I'm sorry I don't know how or if you can do this!

  5. this should work

go to search on your computer and search for bookmarks or favorites

go to the file shown marked favorites or bookmarks then save them to a USB flash disk (if you have one) or burn them to a disc (if you can) then go to the new computer and research for the favorites/bookmarks and copy the files to that folder this should then load them to the new computer and give you the links you need

    check this out..hope it helps

  7. Select File -> Import and Export. This will start the "Import and Export" wizard.

Select Export and the click on "next."

Select Favorites and click on "next."

In the next window you can accept the default Save Directory or choose a new one. I suggest you select "Desktop" so you can easily find the file again. Click on "next."

Finally, click on "finish" and your Favorites will be saved to disk.

Same way you have to import the favorite's.

  8. On internet explorer, look for a "favourites" / "favorites" folder somewhere on your hard drive, possibly in the "my documents" folder and make a copy of it.

Firefox lets you backup your bookmarks from the bookmarks > organise bookmarks > file (in the organise bookmarks window) > export ...

    Opera is similar, go to

bookmarks > manage bookmarks > file drop down button > export opera bookmarks.
