Is there any way to play a sims 2 game that isn't the original without having to buy the original sims 2 ?

I didn't read the back of the cd and I didn't know you had to have the original sims 2 to play is there any way to not have to get the original to play.

No. They're expansion packs, expansions onto the original version.

There are illegal ways of obtaining a copy. Bittorrent etc... but you can do the research. ;)

OR you can go out and buy it. It's worth it.

No, sorry.  Hopefully you didn't buy Nightlife, as unless you have a Mac, you can now only buy The Sims 2 Deluxe or The Sims 2 Double Deluxe which both come with Nightlife already.

But no, you'll have to buy one of the games that comes with the base game to be able to play the expansion pack you bought.
