  1. try not to drink as much water before you run

and breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth

  2. You need to make sure that you have drank plenty of water before the run. Also before the run too, make sure ou have some salt. The salt will help prevent you from cramping up (I ride bikes and run, we usually carry some salt crackers for bike riding to eat when we stop to prevent cramping.) Also if you eat too much salt it can cause cramps too.

  3. Running a little faster makes it go away. You can put one arm straight up and use the other arm to hold it there (an xc coach gave me that advice). Breathing deeper can also help.

  4. Make sure you dont eat too close to your run.  Also, make sure you are hydrated.  Your muscles cramp up when they dont have water in them.  Just be sure that your not chugging water right before you run also.

Eat more bananas.  Potassium helps with cramps also.

  5. Kayleigh's answer was the best.

  6. eat like atleast 2 hours before running and drink plenty of water at least 30-45 minutes before running.

When getting a cramp while running, raise one hand and it can help get the blood flowing.
