If they are rubber, they can be recycled to artificial turf companies, where they are ground up to make astro-turf for pro ball teams.

try Nike, they have a shoe program that uses rubber for playground surfaces.

my friend made some really cute crafts out of it, by taking one shoe from each pair that she no longer wore, and made a large sized wall mural with various shoes glued on the surface of a marroon colored board. it was very cute, and she used it as a corkboard type messege board, and she put tacks and held up articles in it.

also, you can donate it to the salvation army nearest you, or other donation places.
