And, yes, mold should be taken very seriously...it wreaks much more havoc than simply smelling bad...

While everyone will agree that ideally the dry wall will be removed, consider the remarkable research on toxic mold removal done by environmental expert Dr Ed Close. Simply diffusing Thieves essential oil regularly will likely result in an environment very hostile to mold.

Cost of the Thieves Household Cleaner, a diffuser and a couple bottles of the Thieves oil that Dr Close recommends to his remediation clients: about $250.

  2. Because of the dangers involved in toxic mold its imperative to remove and replace all dry wall that has mold on it. You need to treat the wood as well as fix the original leak. Toxic Mold can get into your brain and leave you severely disabled.

  3. No, there isn't. You need to clean the area, (I assume it's block) with bleach water. Then you need to find out why there is mold there in the first place. If it is moisture from the outside, you might look into the grading of your property. If the ground slopes toward your home, you have a negative grade and water is seeping in- You will need to raise the grade by sloping the ground away from your house.

You might also look at your gutters, if they are full of debris, this can cause water to flow over the side and down into your foundation. Concrete walkways next to a foundation is another way to trap water.
