My husbands samsung cell phone is still working, but the screen is white. Nothing happened to it (it didnt get smashed on anything, dropped in water, etc). It just all of a sudden the screen went white. He dialed my number and called me and it still works.

So my question- can you reset a phone so that maybe the screen will fix itself?

Anyone have this happen to their phone?

What did you do to fix it?

Or is it.. <sigh> broken for good?

  1. The only way to reset a cell phone is by restoring it to factory defaults.

This can only be done by accessing the settings menu (depending on the phone brand)

In your case, I think you could try switching it off for an hour, then turn it on again.

If this fails, take it to the retailer, they should fix it for you for FREE since it's not your fault

  2. Do you have insurance on it? If so, just take it to the store and see if they can fix it. If the screen is white then something happened internally . The only way to reset the phone is to go into the options and select "Master Reset". But if you can't see anything on the screen you won't be able to get to that menu. What company do you have?

EDIT: I never heard of that company. I would just take it to the store and ask them. They might be able to fix it or offer you a new one (might cost you some money, but it might not be as much as a new phone). I have Verizon with insurance and if they can;t fix my phone, then I can order a new one for $50.00.
